A major breakthrough is the use of a proofreader program (listing in every issue) that will compute the checksum of each line of code as you copy it from the back of the magazine. You then compare it to the values shown in the listing and you instantly KNOW that you have copied the program correctly. This may not sound like a big deal to all you hackers out there who wouldn't THINK of copying a program from paper by hand, but my eight year old copied in a computer game of about 200 complex basic lines with only two mistakes (both juxtaposition errors).
