My father-in-law bought one of the c-64s when they first came out and
it had the display problem present in the early machines.  Unfortunately,
he did not take it back for exchange at the time.  Does anybody have any
idea what the problem was and if it is owner correctable?

With respect to ordering simon's basic, I have gotten one lead on a mail
order store from which I should be able to order it.  If the lead comes
through, I'll post the information to the net.
