The sound chip seems to work ok most of the time. However, right from the start I've objected to it's decay performance. When I turn off the gate (or use a sustain of 0), the sound indeed decays to nothing. But then it just barely comes back on. This happens independently with each voice. The net result is that if a program doesn't kill the waveforms or the volume, an annoying ring/roar/hiss/mess hangs around constantly. This effect was present on at least one other machine, too. (I had a heat problem in my first unit.) Has Commodore fixed it in the newer units? Does anyone know if there's something I can do about it? Grant Garner !hp-pcd!grant
