SPSS for the IBM-PC is a product of SPSS, Inc. 444 N. Michigan Ave. Chicago, Illinois 60611 (312)329-2400 The following is paraphrased from the Fall 1983 issue of SPSS KeyWords: The version for the PC requires a double-sided floppy, a hard disk, 320K bytes of RAM, and an 8087 math coprocessor. You can analyze data files with over 100 variables and there is no fixed limit on the number of cases. The SPSS/PC system is written in FORTRAN. It differs from the (new) SPSSx in that it incorporates interactive features, and it does not contain the full set of procedures [some procedures of SPSSx require an enormous amount of memory, both in RAM and on disk]. Procedures which are provided include ANOVA, BREAKDOWN, CONDESCRIPTIVE, CROSSTABS, FACTOR, FREQUENCIES, HILOG, LIST, NPAR TESTS, ONEWAY, PEARSON CORR, PLOT, REGRESSION, REPORT, and T-TEST. Transformations include RECODE, COMPUTE, IF, COUNT, SAMPLE, SELECT IF, and WEIGHT. Price: $595. I haven't actually seen or used the product as such --- just passing on information for your information. Tom Putnam ...!pur-ee!pucc-h:ac4
