(they were afraid that i would ask for a stop payment before they cashed it) -------------------- I could understand this if you were trying to draw on this money immediately, but since you also tried to deposit cash it seems unlikely. Most banks don't make the money available until the check has cleared and the "real" money is in their possession. Question: They wouldn't take a teller check, they wouldn't take a traveller's check, and they wouldn't take cash.
