 Someone mentioned individual banks issuing their own notes in the past.
I seem to recall that this is still standard practice in Scotland.These
bills however can be a problem when travelling elsewhere in Britain.The 
further away from Scotland you get the less willing shops,restuarants etc
are to accept these bills.
