Lines: 6 According to an article in the Oregonian sometime early last year, the 1-cent coin is minted solely for use as small change. The law does not require that anyone, with the possible exception of a banking institution, must accept more than some small number of pennies. I don't recall exactly but I think it is in the range of 12 to 25 cents.
