The New York Times reported that the "1984" Macintosh commercial
cost $400,000 (including the short version). That's a lot for a
a one week ad (the Macintosh is to be announced on the 24th, so
they need a new ad after that).  The film was directed by the guy
who made Alien.  I still don't know just how Mac is supposed to
keep 1984 from being like "1984," mayber they'll explain it in a
sequel.
