My guess on what Apple means when they say that the Mac will keep
1984 from being "1984" casts Big Blue in the role of the mesmerizing
Big Brother.  Apple is throwing a hammer into the works to stop
the un-stoppable IBM-PC sweep.

Todays New York Times reports IBM-PC sales have exceeded expectations
for 4q83.  If I remember it right, they sold more in the quarter than they
had in the previous year & some months since it was introduced.
PCjr's were said to be in short supply.  Darn if I know where the demand is
coming from for those things!
