OK, OK.  I'm the culprit who submitted the "Badges.." line and
offered the reference upon request.  There seems to be some
controversy (and I got a lot of mail) so...

The original line is from "Treasure of the Sierra Madre", veritably
spit out to Bogart by the slimy leader of even slimier banditos who
try first to rob Bogart and his sidekick by claiming they are
Federales.  The line was used in "Blazing Saddles", though I can't
remember where.  (Thanks to Chuq for jogging my memory on that.)
