If you look at the song credits on your Beach Boys albums (I know
you have them, you can't hide 'em forever), you will find that Brian
Wilson wrote many of the songs and most of the hits.  According to
my California friend (though I don't know quite how much I believe
him), Wilson wrote most of these songs as high school music class
projects; the teacher failed many of them, but they were hits
anyway.
