Carolina at Chapel Hill Lines: 9 I purchased a Zen-on tenor recorder for my wife for Xmas. I paid $165 for it (talked down from $190). It is made out of cherry, and appears to be extremely well-constructed. It also comes in a very attractive and rugged carrying case. The tone quality is outstanding, but I really have not heard other tenors so I can't compare them. My wife has a pearwood alto, and the tenor seemed to have a fuller sound than it, but that is probably just because of the difference in the resonance cavities.
