Message-ID: <514@ihnp4.UUCP> Date: Tue, 24-Jan-84 01:56:27 EST Article-I.D.: ihnp4.514 Posted: Tue Jan 24 01:56:27 1984 Date-Received: Fri, 27-Jan-84 06:50:11 EST Organization: AT&T Bell Labs, Naperville, IL Lines: 21 Someone at harpo decided to clean up some newsgroups, so he sent out a sed script to clean out newsgroup net.unix.wizards. Here's how it looked in our log file: Jan 23 06:30 harpo.UUCP system(cp /n4/exptools/lib/netnews/secret/active /tmp/$$ ; sed '/^net.unix.wizards /d' /n4/exptools/lib/netnews/secret/active ; rm /tmp/$$) status 0 Well, in sed regular expressions, `.' means any character, including `-'. And so unix-wizards was removed from everyone's active file. What you need to do is add it to your active file, looking at the highest numbered article in the newsgroup to decide what number to put there. PLEASE be CAREFUL when sending stuff like this out! TRY it on your own system FIRST! Off to fix things up here..... Tom Clark, ihnp4!tsclark -- Tom Clark, BTL IH, ihnp4!tsclark, (312) 979-2620
