Keith Laumer wrote Dinosaur Beach a long time ago.
It looks at the aspect of time travel in a slightly
different way. As in Asimov's "The End of Eternity",
the protagonist actually sees himself in a battle
where he could (theoretically) fight against himself.
Neat. Have a look at it.
