Invitations pending!) nobody has talked about Metropolis, the 1926(29?) silent film. Standing on its own, its a very good and powerful movie, but if you look at the statement it makes back then and look at Orwell, you can see a number of similarities. Another seemingly forgotten but very good SF/Orwellian film is Modern Times, with Charlie Chaplin.
