There was a short story titled "Aesculapius Has Paws" which appeared in
one of the early Clarion collections. Output of one of the Clarion
writers' workshops. The story concerns a cat-like alien who used its
psychic abilities to aid a mentally distraught woman who lived on a
houseboat (much like the ones in Seattle where some of the workshops
were held).
