We were happily coding away one day in the office when his girlfriend and my sister came by to visit. They talked us into taking a break and going to the cafeteria to discuss military design techniques. John was excited by my sister's competence in peripheral interface techniques; likewise, I was attracted to his girlfriends expertise in the use of linked lists. This meeting ended uneventfully and John and I thought nothing of it. That meeting, however, was the beginning of a complex chain of events leading to the degradation of all the relationships involved. That night John's girlfriend paid me a surprise visit, ostensibly to continue our discussion of linked lists. I became quite excited during this discussion, as linked lists are a favorite topic of mine, and perhaps unwisely coerced her into spending the night. Being as I lived with my parents at the time, my sister discovered what had happened. Unbeknownst to me, she had developed quite an attraction for John earlier in the day, and so she called him to break the news. He begged her to visit him to help allay the pain he felt in his heart, and she, feeling sorry for him, accepted. Needless to say, she did not return that night. By the end of the week, my relationship with John's girlfriend (ex-girlfriend, now) had developed into a serious affair, John was trying to wrangle his way out of a relationship with my sister, as he had gotten on his feet again and no longer needed her, and we all despised each other. Not to mention the fact that we had all stopped hugging each other. My question to all you net readers is this: Is this normal, or am I trapped in a world I never made? flames accepted, ...seismo!rlgvax!cvl!umcp-cs!aplvax!dck
