In 1906 the White Sox and the Cubs (I'm not sure whether they used those nicknames back then) won their respective leagues. The Cubs won 116 games and were in first place by 20 games! The Sox won the series, though, 4 games to 2. In 1944 the St. Louis Browns and the Cardinals faced each other, the Cardinals winning, 4 games to 2. There have been an incredible 13 subway series involving New York teams plus 4 between the Yankees and the L.A. Dodgers and 1 between the Yankees and the S.F. Giants. -- Peter Gayde ihnp4!{iwu1b,ihuxp}!gayde AT&T Technologies Naperville, IL (312) 979-7186
