They are *really* quite bad. The movies are not faithful to the BBC show; as someone else mentioned, in the movie the Doctor is just an eccentric earth man. The Doctor does very little in the movies -- the real star is his granddaughter Susan, who is about 8 years old (unlike Susan in the William Hartnell series).
