I think the flames that precede me miss the point. The words do sound different -- more inclusive -- in a feminized form. No, we shouldn't go out revising literature to serve political ends no matter how noble, but sometimes it is helpful to look at things differently, to change the words to see how they sound (are they still true? How is it different? Does it `feel' different?). Though `men' and `man' are, in some contexts, supposed to apply to all people, sometimes we need to be reminded of that.
