Hartford, CT Lines: 32 I am looking for a way to suppress the system messages printed to the terminal when a job is started up in the background. I mean, for example, when this command is issued : & a message such as "[1] 1244" is sent to the terminal notifying the user of the job number and process id. When the process finishes, an exit message such as [1] Done .... is printed on the terminal. I would appreciate any suggestion anyone has on how to suppress these start and finish process messages.
