However, I think that the more recently developed "low-dosage" forms are thought to work by preventing implantation. The low-estrogen pills are safer in terms of side-effects, and therefore not contra-indicated for as many women as the original formulation. Admittedly, my information comes from a pro-choice organization (so who knows (8-). One of the major points against many of the constitutional amendments before Congress (Paramount Rights Amendment, Human Life Amend- ment, etc) in the past few years is that they would have outlawed the low-dosage forms of the pill and the IUD: precisely the two most effective methods of birth control...and two which are relatively safe (though I personally have doubts about the IUD - but thats a subject for net.med).
