1.  If I remember correctly the body and the soul are united at CONCEPTION.
    SO teaches most of Christianity not just Catholicism.

2.  If this is so then the fetus IS human. It is man's immortal soul which
    sets him apart from all lower forms of life.

3.  The human has a right to live, although this may be abrogated under
    just cause.  Usually the case after a human has done something under
    freewill.

4.  The fetus is a defenseless (by observation) human (by above) and is
    worthy of the protection of the state which protects ALL humans.

5.  Legalized abortion removes the protection of the state from the fetus
    and sets dangerous precedents.

This is about as succint as I can make it, so please see higher authorites
