Also, for a long time a closed coloring formula has been known for a sphere with any number of donut holes and mobius strips attached, as long as it was not a sphere! If you just plugged in 0 for a sphere the answer came out to 4, but the argument did not work for this case!!! There is a Springer-Verlag series of mathematics, and I saw this formula there, but I don't remember it. Wayne Pineault
