Wait.  Nasty cartridges go after the highs, not lows.  To state it a bit
naively, sharp corners are harder to turn - the stylus is more likely to
mistrack when it's changing direction faster.  Also, you've got a lot more
vinyl for the bass notes - they just happen slower.  It takes more carving
to change their shape.
