HELP!! Message-ID: <455@ut-ngp.UUCP> Date: Fri, 30-Mar-84 16:07:34 EST Article-I.D.: ut-ngp.455 Posted: Fri Mar 30 16:07:34 1984 Date-Received: Sat, 31-Mar-84 09:21:08 EST Organization: Comp. Center, Univ. of Texas at Austin Lines: 20 The VW-Rabbit of a friend has been acting up, and I'd like to help him save some money by trying to fix it. It's a fuel-injection variety of '79 or so, and displays the following 'undisciplined' behavior: The engine stopped while driving, caused by fuel-starvation, probably. The enginge starts, sometimes, at other times, it doesn't. It does not seem to be a starter problem. I'm not familiar with rabbits, but I suspect a problem with the electric fuel-pump, working only when it feels like it, causing fuel-starvation when it decides to take a break. I first checked the fuse, which seems ok, but then, to my surprise, found that the relay was missing in the fuse-box. That's as far as I got in a first diagnostic check-up, and I wonder what to make of the missing relay, and how to proceed next. Any advice appreciated (short of "junk it" - which is not feasable, financially) a werner@ut-ngp {.ARPA or .UUCP} or ihnp4!ut-ngp!werner
