I now have an unobtrusive permanent installation (I can still take the box off the visor and lock it in the glove box or trunk) that keeps the detector a little higher with respect to the horizon than mounting behind the grille. The Escort manual specifically states that higher mounting spots give slightly more warning. Be careful. Any radar detector of any make and mounted anywhere is not a substitute for keeping your eyes open or adjusting your speed to the road. A trigger operated K band gun on a winding road will still get you if you are not careful! -- Gary Wasserman ...harpo!inmet!grw ...hplabs!sri-unix!cca!ima!inmet!grw ...yale-comix!ima!inmet!grw
