Very interesting! I had exactly the same experience! I went to a number of dealers in town. One on Morse Road (in Columbus, Ohio) said they would put our name on a list and call should one come in. A fully loaded (though almost exactly what we wanted anyway) Plymough Voyager was available five days later! The dealer said it would be built Mar 6 and available to be picked up toward the end of March. It was built Mar 6 and was in Columbus Mar 8! We picked it up the next day. We did get off without having to pay any extra $500. And, we did feel the $275 for the extra coverage was well worth it. We love the feel of the car and have enjoyed a 1500 mile trip getting 25+ mpg on the highway! To be able to carry our family of four comfortably with that mileage is remarkable!
