I would like to hear more about this 8 bit issue, as it is near and dear to my heart. There exist a number of graphics terminal like devices that attach directly to the system bus, and are accessed through the tty drivers. (We at Terak have two such devices.) These kinds of devices certainly do not need to use parity. Sohail.
