However; There's a lot of stuff that ought to be fixed up in the tty drivers, notably echoing. ( I'd like a deferred mode as on TOPSXX, that is, Echo when read by requesting program. ) This is not because of the 8 bit standard, which ought never have seen the light of day, but for general data transfer use.
