While I was very accustomed to ^U as a line kill from my TOPS-10 days,
I painfully made the transition to ^X because everybody yelled at me:

	"^U is ASCII <NAK> (negative acknowledeg -- please re-send);
	you should use ^X which is ASCII <CAN> (cancel message)."

Now of course, I DEPEND on our system defaulting to ^X, and my fingers
have a new groove in them.

					I would have sent the NAPLPS
					characters for the cidilla and
					the accent-circumflex, except
					nobody (but us?) speaks NAPLPS.
