Using @ or "printable" characters for special functions is unwise. It is also unwise to depend upon ANY defaults with a program as important as uucp. I can see that the use of @ (or the line kill character) would make uucp more dependable for login in. But if the line is so noisy as to cause the first few login attemps to fail, does uucp want to login at all? Perry convex!smu!pedz
