Chicago - Astro. Lines: 14 I used to play the game you call doublechess - it went by the names of siamese chess or double-bughouse among my crowd. We also did not allow pawns to be placed on the first rank (nor the eighth rank, of course). Keeping track of what a piece was when it had been promoted and then captured was always a problem. I don't believe you mentioned the victory conditions: a team loses when either member is checkmated or when either flag is seen to have fallen by an opponent. Has anyone played the game we called "swiss chess", in which white makes one move, then black makes two moves, white three moves, and so on? It's tough to get a game to last long, but it can be done!
