San Diego Lines: 24 (If you're not in the San Diego area, ignore this flame.) Avon Builders has a nasty habit of calling me once, twice, maybe more times a month, to see if I need any home repairs. I find these calls annoying; a "no" isn't going to change to "yes" just because they ask more often. I have asked the company to stop calling, at least five times, and been told "OK". I complained to the Better Business Bureau, and Mr. Bernie Greenberg, the owner, wrote back, in part: March 5, 1984 Mr. Hofkin's name will be removed from our calling list. We use only one Haines Directory at a time and continually mark off names of people who do not wish to be called. I phoned Greenberg and he confirmed that my name had been dropped. Guess what? They've called me again! [Ready all torpedoes!] Who else has had trouble getting rid of these turkeys? Anything work? I think that next time I'm going to invite the salesman over so I can complain in person.
