You didn't specify which flavor of Emacs you were talking about. Displaying line numbers is a mode in "ITS Emacs"--which is what I'm setting below. I haven't found a way to do it in Gosling's Emacs either. lnumb 5 lnowid Incidentally, I used "followup" rather than "respond" for two reasons: 1. I thought others might find it useful. 2.
