C.S. Lewis did not become a Christian until later in his life and was one of the world's formost modern theologians. His arguments for Christianity are well thoughout and sound. Who Moved the Stone ? - (I don't recall the author's name) Written by an aetheist lawyer (turned Christian) who originally set out to prove that Christianity was a 2000 year old hoax. He found out that this was impossible as every piece of evidence he uncovered pointed to the veracity of Christ. Know Why You Believe. - Paul Little Another book which looks at the foundation doctrines of Christianity. Each concept is examined and verified step by step to form a unified theology (Can you prove God? Does Christianity make sense? Is the Bible reliable? Did Christ really rise? etc.) I have read these books (and others) to know how to talk to people who find Christianity irrational, illogical, naive, stupid, etc. and demand a rigorous (in the math sense) proof for the existence of God and Christ. In the final analysis, hard proof comes in the form of the records of the life of Christ (I know, I know, don't bring the Bible into it) which have been verified over and over again as accurate (you remember the Dead Sea Scrolls of 1948?) I think that to thumb your nose at history is also naive. I also don't think that God is going to throw miracles (besides the miracle 2000 years ago) in your face to prove His own existence. Jeff pointed out that even Christ didn't do that for the Pharisees of the time. Finally, I do feel sorry for those who feel so strongly that there is NO GOD. Life becomes directionless and pointless in that atmosphere. Death becomes a Steven King nightmare (and it will be for some!) I hope in my heart that some of you will find time to read some of these books and change your thoughts on the matter. Christ DOES make a difference. I better quit before I bore you with this preacher style. B.C.Mather uiucdcs!uicsl!mather
