Lines: 32 We have seen flames regarding religion in schools, we have seen flames regarding religion. There have probably been flames regarding things like est & zen. Why care, who bothers? Who cares, why bother? We have seen fortran, we have seen cobol, we have even argued about pascal & C. We still look for the solution to languages, why don't we look for solution(s) for ways/beliefs/religions? The above "religions" usually include some regard/respect for others of the same ilk, and giving the others a chance. (even this is the result of the practioners, not the rules of the game) Yet here, the home of the different, the home of those who think differently, we argue which of those things which came before is correct. Is auto-code correct?? (for those who know of the pre-fortran days) Is C the answer?? They are better, but only because they have the things you liked in all the others. (or are able to live with, or learned to love) The problem is when you have to deal with interfacing the others & yourself. We think of this as a competition (remember trial by combat) instead of having common goals, or at least goals that do not conflict, and have something in common. It turns out that we invent most conflicts. Why do we continue to compete, when cooperation (symbiosis) has usually proven more fruitful? Is it because you see yourself in conflict with others, instead of seeing how we can benefit each other? Is evolution the province of the individual, or the species? Most cooperate when necessary. (even though it would be useful in general) There are scenarios where both win. If it doesn't matter in 1000 years, why bother now?? If it does matter in 1000 years, why waste time?? kev
