What does this statement mean? I shudder to think... more from the same source: "For all of you who do not read Arabic and who are woefully ignorant of Islamic society, the big issue which educated Muslim women are addressing is female circumcision which is the removal or mutilation of the clitoris. The issues which American feminists discuss seem quite trivial by comparison." The reason that "female circumcision" is not a "big issue" in the United States is that this barbaric practice is not performed in this country. Besides, "female circumcision" is a misnomer. Female castration is a more accurate description. It seems grossly unfair to me that a society castrates its women and doesn't castrate its men. No wonder the "educated Muyslim women" are concerned with this issue. Dave Holt Convex Computer Corp. {allegra,ihnp4,uiucdcs,ctvax}!convex!holt
