Here I go, gratifying my ego again!  In the process of composing the reply
to the following letter, I stripped and lost the header, so I don't know to
whom I should reply.  I tried to find his name in newsgroups, with no
results.  My apologies in advance for posting this;  I will be
more careful with my headers the next time.

My first impression, which still lasts, of reading your mail was that you
could not write a single paragraph without using at least two obscenities.
My second impression was to wonder what you were talking about.  I scoured
the contents of about 15 newsgroups to find the reference.  I reproduce
it below:

was NOT posted by me.  If you took the time to examine the header (notice
'jwr' rather than 'jbf') you would notice that it was not even posted from
my account.  Jim simply used chfn to make his full name look like mine, and
appended the corresponding signature.

I objected only to Jim's posting this article to the net IN MY NAME, not to the
reply as such.  Net.flame was configured for this sort of "exhibitionism",
and is no more wasteful than posting jokes, etc.

If you want this to go to JR, you can use the 'r' key yourself, but in
response to the appropriate message.  I am not concerned with your quarrels.
But even when you do have your facts straight, I suggest you curb your
language a little.  People feel more guilty about having offended a
reasonable person than a venomous critic.  If you want to send out
obscenities, why not try net.flame?  That's what it is there for.
