What about the other definition of hacker, as it used to be known until
people started maligning it?  I'm talking about the person who throws all
caution to the winds, says, "F*ck all the hardware on the market.  I can
build it better myself" and does.  This is the definition that I was brought
up with, although I have no problem with the term applied to software.
