I've given up trying to use staves of Lightning, Cold, and Striking. They ALWAYS miss, in my experience. Someone suggested that experience could be a factor, ie, they are supposed to miss unless the user has high experience. How about experience level 8, 9, or 10? Should they be missing at that kind of level? Is it possible that some versions of rogue have a bug/glitch? Or is there some pre-requisite to proper use that some of us are missing? I'm playing version 5.3 I tried quaffing two potions of Haste Self at once, and I immediately fainted with exhuastion.
