What I've got is the latest IBM-PC version of rogue, which I've heard is later than 5.3 The monsters seem to be the same, "medusas", "xerocs", etc., but there may be some things that are different, such as what happens when you get confused. I can't find out for sure, myself, because I don't have access to 5.3 running on a VAX. P.S. -- other differences from 5.2: 1) teleport traps leave you confused. 2) trap door traps can damage you (from the fall) 3) Scrolls of whatever-slaying 4) Scrolls of food detection 5) detect magic info stays on the screen and marks if items are beneficial or not. 6) And of course, a high armor class being better than a low one. There may be others, but I can't remember them off the top of my head. -- From the Random Fingers of -- Ray Chen {allegra | ihnp4 | mhuxi}!princeton!down!tilt!chenr "It's amazing what a thousand monkeys and a few typewriters can accomplish..."
