My keystrokes (l,l,l,l) were echoed back on the screen at me; (I paused); the screen scrolled up one line, and a moment later I got my shell prompt. The file rogue.save now existed; it hadn't before. At this point, the game saved will re-exhibit this behavior when it is restarted; the game is thus pratically unplayable, as it will simply make one move and save itself over and over again. This has happened to several people at our site, after saving a game. This time, it happened while I was playing a game that had NEVER been saved; I was just playing normally and BANG! Weird state. I offer this to those who are in a position to investigate this problem so that they will know that this state can arise WITHOUT a prior save command. For what its worth, about 50-100 turns before this incident, half of my pack inventory vanished for no apparent reason - all magic items were gone (I had had about 7 or 8 potions, rings, and staves). I was left only with weapons, armor, and food. Michael Stimac ...hplabs!oliveb!tymix!stimac Tymshare, Inc. Cupertino, CA
