When you come to a branch point in a maze, the branch which is *not* in the direction you have come from seems to be more likely to lead farther into the maze than the one which lies straight ahead. That is, suppose you encounter: ####### # # # # # ### # # # # # #### #####@# # ################# Going up will usually get you farther than going right. It's also helpful to notice that very seldom are there maze segments with only one square in them.
