They are small metal pins that you insert in the cable after you have drilled the hole but before attaching the H4000. They should be in a small box or plastic container in the drill kit. They are easy to overlook. Having installed several ethernets using the installation kit, the only trouble I encountered was on on transceiver where the engineer incorrectly installed the braid terminator, shorting the cable. If you are using a DEUNA (the DEC Unibus ethernet controller) it will detect things like this at initialisation time. The board has a status display that gives a good indication of the nature of the fault.The other nodes on the ethernet will also fail at init time if you have a fault like this. There is also a transceiver test box that you can use if you don't want to connect to the host.
