The big data test I mentioned took place over a period of some number
of months as a side-effect of the need to transfer large amounts
of geological survey data between two sites.  I'm still looking for
the raw statistics -- they are only in hard copy form and (I'm beginning
to suspect) buried in a box somewhere in the garage ("Where few have
visited and survived.")  I've got lotsa good stuff out in the garage,
including old IBM manuals, SDS/XDS Sigma 5/7 documentation (anyone
need a "metasymbol language reference guide"?) and similar goodies.
