1) Is there any way to send XON/XOFF or some equivalent thereof down a pipe?

2) Is there any way to tell how many open file descriptors there are on
	the other end of a pipe? (One process has the write fd, the other
	has the read fd and the write process forks again; there are now
	two write file descriptors to the one read. Is there any way for
	the read process to now detect that there are two processes writing
	to it?)
