Lines: 12 The problem with such addresses is that you never know when some intermediate site will decide to use the ARPA part of the address. In your example (ihnp4!ucbvax!n%h@s), if ihnp4 gives @-signs "higher priority" than !s, they will try to send it to {{ucbvax!n%h} at s}, rather than {ucbvax ! {n%h@s}}.
