You need them just as much as you need muscle cells or brain cells or any other kind of cells. The number of fat cells in the body is essentially constant after the age of ten or so. You get fat by making your fat cells bigger NOT by making new ones. The only real way to lose weight is to change your lifestyle. Exercise and eat the right kind of food. There are no "tricks" to losing weight.
