I have a friend who is interested in
some sort of radio-link system in which
people could roam around a fairly large
building with portable terminals and
access a central database.  

I seem to recall hearing at some point
about standard RS-232 modems that used
a radio link to a standard telephone,
or something of that ilk.  Is this a
rhira-dream, or does anybody have
information on this?  Any and all
